Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary

Beyond doubt a paradise for bird lovers. Also known as Keoladeo Ghana National Park. It was declared as ‘World Heritage Site’ by UNESCO in 1985. Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary was created artificially by Maharaja of Bharatpur in 1980.

Location : Bharatpur, Rajasthan. About 60 kms from Agra

Best Time to Visit : For inhabitant birds (Aug- Nov).

For Migratory Birds : (Oct- Feb)

Best Way to Reach Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary :
Nearest airport is at Agra (56 kms) and Delhi (180) kms. Regular rail services are available from all the major cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Agra and Jaipur. One can reach here by road from the main cities of Rajasthan and also from UP, Delhi and Haryana.

Avifauna: Migratory birds during winters such as- Highly endangered Siberian cranes, Ducks, Larks, Flycatchers, Geese, Pelicans, Stints, Hawks, Eagles, Wagtails, Warblers, Pipits, Buntings, Wheatears, Shanks etc.

Inhabitant birds: Sarus Cranes, Black-necked Storks, Demoiselle Cranes, Darters, Lapwings, Painted Storks and Asian Openbill Storks, Pelicans, and various species of ducks, kingfishers, owls, wading birds, eagles etc.

Fauna: Sambar, Wild Boar, Chital, Nilgai, Jackal, Hyena, Fishing Cat, Jungle Cat, Blackbuck, etc.

Center of Attraction: Highly endangered Siberian cranes which come from Siberia and Central Asia to spend there winters when the rivers of Siberia are frozen in winters.
